Job Description:

As a Refractory Marson Artisan your role requires you to be responsible for maintaining, installing, repairing, and commissioning of ladles, furnace tap holes, launders, and hearth. Your role will also include:

  • Relining of various equipment within the operation, specifically Launders, Hot Gas Generators, Furnace, Refractory Installation
  • Checking of Furnace measurements
  • Checking and repairing of Launders
  • Executing workplace risk assessments and safe working procedures
  • Ensuring down time of tap holes, launders is minimized.
  • Being responsible for checklists and that inspections are up to date and accurate
  • Ensuring safe achievement of ladle, tap hole and launder availability through effective installation, repair, and maintenance
  • Ensuring that refractory materials are available as required


  • 5 O Levels
  • Trade Certificate in Refractory Marson (Please attach Certificate)
  • Apprenticeship Trained


  • 5 years working experience as a Refractory Marson Artisan
  • Smelting Operation experience required
  • Knowledge of Computer Literacy (Microsoft Excel, Power Point and MS Word
  • Exposure in Analyzing Data
  • Report Writing Skills
  • Capability of working at elevated temperatures (heat tolerance)
