Job Description

APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FROM SUITABLY QUALIFIED AND EXPERIENCED PERSONS TO FILL THE POST OF PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER IN COUNCIL.

Key result areas

The incumbent will be reporting to the Town Clerk and shail be responsible for the following;-

  • Handling all public relations activities and publicity campaigns in liason with Heads of Departments
  • Promoting the goodwill and positive image of Council
  • Developing a media relations strategy
  • Arranging all consultative meeting and community engagement programmes
  • Preparation of monthly and annual report and briefings for the Town Clerk
  • Speaking publicly at interviews, press conference and presentations

Qualifications and experience

The person specification

  • A degree from a recognized institution in Public Relations, Communication , Journalism, Media or equivalent is a must
  • A post graduate qualification in Public Relations /Media would be an added advantage
  • At least 3 years post qualification experience in Public Relations/Media and Community Engagement
  • At least five years relevant work experience
  • Must be highly computer proficient and use of cameras, audios and video recording devices
  • Membership of the recognized Media Board in Zimbabwe
  • No criminal record /a valid police clearance must be attached

Core competencies

  • Good research skills and sound knowledge of social media platforms
  • Ability to identify communication related risks and opportunities
  • A high level of creative energy and results oriented
