Job Description

Location: Harare
Type of Contract: Fixed Term

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership, management, and general technical direction for programs, ensuring an integrated vision among diverse components and actors, and focusing on achieving the desired results;
  • Ensure that the program is implemented according to its design, quality standards, and schedule;
  • Supervise program monitoring, evaluation, and reporting and ensure quality control and timeliness of all deliverables as required by the grant and donors;
  • Ensure effective program implementation through ongoing donor engagement on programmatic performance and revisions in a timely manner;
  • Project identification and appraisal;
  • Technical, financial and administrative follow up of relevant projects;
  • Preparation, follow up, monitoring, invoicing review and reporting of the relevant projects, including evaluation of reports and overall / annual work plans;
  • Monitoring of ongoing projects, including field visits, on the spot evaluation and control of payments and contracts performance;
  • Monitor all project activities, expenditures and progress towards achieving the project output;
  • Dissemination of projects information to third parties including management reports, press releases and website updates;
  • Liaison with relevant stakeholders and other CSOs, including participation and reporting on all relevant meetings;
  • Follow up of the activities of other donors and international organizations and analysis of their strategies;
  • Policy analysis and follow up of main developments in the relevant sectors;
  • Collect data on a regular basis to measure achievement against the performance indicators;
  • Support project progress reporting and project mid-term review;
  • Identify areas where technical support to project partners is required;
  • Coordinating with other departments to identify lessons learned and develop case studies to capture qualitative outputs of the project and providing advice to the supervisor on improving project performance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant Social Science Degree with proven work experience in the civil society sector, internal and donor reporting and a good understanding of donor requirements;
  • Ability to track and monitor compliance by various partner organizations with set standards and procedure in terms of project implementation;
  • Excellent research and writing skills;
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and must be proficient in both oral and written English;
  • Sharp analytical and verbal reasoning skills;
  • Ability to work and interact with marginalized and vulnerable communities and individuals;
  • Ability to work with all stakeholders including funding partners, Consortium partners and Government departments;
  • Ability to use the Microsoft suite of packages.
