Job Description

Mary’s Meals Zimbabwe is a charity that has been recently established with the aim of facilitating school feeding programmes as part of a global Mary’s Meals movement.
Our vision is that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education and that all those who have more than they need, share with those who lack even the most basic things.

The Zimbabwe Programme Officer supports and coordinates Mary’s Meals school feeding programmes in Zimbabwe. They will play a key role in further implementing the Mary’s Meals Zimbabwe strategy, which supports our existing partner programmes and ensures we continue to increase the number of children we serve in Zimbabwe. The role also supports the Country Director in evaluating, and potentially setting up new partner programmes and a Mary’s Meals Zimbabwe programme affiliate.

Programme delivery

  • To coordinate the Zimbabwe school feeding programme activities and collaborate with partners ensuring programmes are delivered in-line with the Mary’s Meals Approach and adhering to all Mary’s Meals policies reflecting the vision, mission, and values of Mary’s Meals;
  • Support the rolling out of Mary’s Meals Zimbabwe as a country programme affiliate;
  • Proactively contribute to the development of country annual operating plans;
  • To ensure timely implementation of all projects and programme activities through development of detailed operational work plans and effective resource management;
  • Supporting programme partners to roll out various programme management systems and tools;
  • Ensure smooth implementation of our School Feeding Delivery Model while identifying opportunities for further innovation in the Zimbabwe programme;
  • Ensure that all logistics arrangements are in place, cost effective and functioning smoothly to ensure continuous programme implementation;
  • Proactively ensure that there are Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each logistics area and put in place monitoring mechanisms for these KPIs;
  • Work with the partners to ensure timely collection, analysis and reporting of in-country key monitoring and evaluation data, as agreed in the monitoring and evaluation strategy and to take action to strengthen and optimise programme delivery;
  • To provide regular reports, updates and recommendations to the Mary’s Meals Zimbabwe programme leadership team and all support functions.

Qualifications

  • A Degree in a relevant subject/field

Experience

  • At least 2 years of practical and relevant work experience in a related role and related sector.
  • Experience in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team is an added advantage.

Skills and knowledge

  • Good knowledge and understanding of international development principles;
  • Practical skills of developing and implementing strategies, policies, and procedures;
  • Leading project and reporting on them;
  • Very good computer skills, including with management reporting tool, Microsoft Word, and Excel;
  • Knowledge of the Zimbabwe regulatory framework and functions of statutory bodies;
  • Strong team leader with ability to manage in a dynamic environment including coaching and motivating;
  • Practical, solution oriented and pragmatic. Able to exercise initiative and sound judgement;
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all operational and financial reporting;
  • Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritising a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain good communications channels at all levels;
  • Ability to influence and persuade.
