Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following posts

PROCUREMENT OFFICER (GRADE 9)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • A degree in purchasing and Supply
  • CIPs qualification is an added ad vantage
  • Must have knowledge of the public procurement and disposal of public assets act Chapter 22:23
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience is strongly preferred
  • A clean class 4 drivers licence
  • Solid communication and negotiating skills

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Preparation of the Council’s procurement plan
  • Superintending procurement of goods and services for the council in accordance with procurement regulations
  • Analying purchase requisitions and review them for accuracy and completion
  • Preparation of bidding documents for the council
  • Giving proper advice to the accounting officer on all procurement matters
  • Follow proper channels to obtain purchase authorization in accordance with council policy
  • Identify and select vendors and suppliers using council’s laid down criteria.
  • Submit procurement returns and plans to PRAZ

BUILDING INSPECTOR-GRADE 8

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Carrying out building Inspections at all stages of construction to ensure compliance with building bylaws
  • Peg identification and re-identifications
  • Evaluation and co-examination of all building plans submitted for approval
  • Supervising the construction of all council building projects and maintenance thereafter.
  • Regular inspection of all Council properties and recommending remedial action.
  • Project appraisal and Production of Bill of quantities
  • Production of stage inspection reports.
  • Preparation ofmonthly reports.
  • Ensure safe keeping of all submitted and approved plans.

Skills and Competencies:

  • 5 O’ Levels including English and Mathematics
  • Diploma in construction technology or equivalent qualification
  • Class One Journeyman Certificate is an added advantage
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a Building Technician/Inspector.
  • Able to use survey equipment.
  • Local authority exposure is an added advantage
  • Class 3 and 4 Drivers Licence

ROADS SUPERVISOR

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Supervise the operation of council road section
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of safekeeping of equipment and tools.
  • Supervise construction of roads infrastructure
  • Schedule equipment and assign duties to staff to ensure completion of assigned tasks
  • Perform other related work as assigned by supervisor
  • Prepare monthly reports

Skills and Competencies:

  • National diploma in Civil Engineering with strong bias towards roads
  • At least 2 years’ experience in roads and storm drains
  • Be computer literate
  • Clean class 3 and 4 Drivers Licence.
