Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced, self-motivated and task- oriented individuals to fill the position of PROCUREMENT OFFICER (GRADE 9) that has arisen within Marondera Rural District Council.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation of the Council procurement plan
  • Superintending procurement of goods and services for the Council in accordance with procurement regulations
  • Analyse purchase requisitions and review them for accuracy and completion
  • Preparation of bidding documents for the Council
  • Giving proper advice to the Accounting Officer on all procurement matters
  • Follow proper channels to obtain purchase authorisation in accordance with Council policy
  • Identify and select vendors and suppliers using Council’s laid down criteria

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Degree in Purchasing and Supply or equivalent
  • CIPS qualification is an added advantage
  • Must have knowledge of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act ( Chapter 22: 23)
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience is strongly preferred
  • A clean class 4 driver’s licence is an added advantage
  • Ability to thrive in a high stress and fast paced environment.
  • At least 25 years
