Mine Operations Manager

Job Description

The position exists to develop business goals for the mine, and help to produce a business plan to ensure that those goals are met

Key Accountabilities

• Establish systems, procedures and work flows and schedules to guide mine development and control,
• Ensure operations staff are engaged in the mine planning, optimization and productivity processes and improvements including stage plans, to allow efficient and effective execution of the plan/s
• Prepare production and operating budgets, and monitor and report performance and costs
• Develops continuous improvement targets for the function and drive and measure achievement of these targets.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety guidelines
• Contribute to business planning and company strategy to improve competitiveness, profitability and growth.

Qualifications and competences

• Mining Engineering Honours Degree or equivalent
• Certificate in Drilling, Maintenance of gas detectors
• Full blasting license, NEC registered
• 8 years’ experience in mining environment with 3 years at senior level
• Conversant with mining regulations and ability to stay up to date with changes within the sector
