Introduction

Methodist Development and Relief Agency and its funding partner Bread for the World would like to commission a consultant to undertake a mid-term survey amongst the beneficiaries from 8th February to the 12th of February 2021. The specific objective of the mid-term survey is to undertake an independent assessment of the performance of the project with special attention to the effectiveness of the project against its objective and anticipated result areas and identifying key lessons and practical recommendations for future programming for MeDRA.

MeDRA background

MeDRA is a Christian-based Local NGO owned by the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe. MeDRA uses a spiritual approach to sustainable development. MeDRA is result-oriented and believes in a theory of change that seeks to empower and transform our target communities. MeDRA was registered as a private voluntary organization (PVO) in August 2009 although activities started in 2004. The organization has its mandate to undertake Humanitarian and Developmental programmes that aim at meaningfully contributing towards the positive socio-economic change in Zimbabwe, beginning with marginalized communities and most vulnerable populations.

The organization has provided long-term needed assistance in the areas of agriculture, water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion, environment management and disaster risk management and emergency humanitarian aid. MeDRA has worked with various communities in peacebuilding initiatives aimed at promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence through conflict resolution, management, and prevention mechanisms.

The project

MeDRA is implementing an Integrated WASH and Livelihoods Project in Gokwe South, Njelele 1, ward 16. The goal of the project was to improve livelihoods in Gokwe South district. The project started on 1 July 2018 and will end on 30 June 2021. A baseline survey was undertaken in 2019 hence findings from the assessment were used to formulate the project, which is currently running till 2023 in Midlands Province, Gokwe South district.
