Job Description

“Exciting and demanding role”

This is a site-based position reporting to the General Manager, and incumbent will be responsible to provide leadership of the Maintenance, Engineering and Reliability team that delivers equipment availabilities that support the operations to achieve production targets safely at lowest life cycle cost. Your duties will include but not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

  • Lead the positive and effective implementation of OH&S policy and procedures, and overarching statutory requirements
  • Lead compliance with environmental and social policies and procedures and overarching statutory requirements
  • Develop/implement and lead maintenance strategies to achieve both Plant and Equipment set availability targets consistently
  • Lead and ensure the achievement of the availability and reliability targets across all equipment
  • Ensure all reporting and planning obligations are met
  • Responsible for management and preparation of detailed and realistic maintenance work schedules
  • Responsible for Mechanical and Electrical maintenance, Reliability, Engineering and Planning
  • Establish short as well as long term budgets to accurately forecast the expenditure to meet life cycle costing and annual financial targets including Life of Mine forecasts
  • Ensure compliance with these forecasts by regular monitoring, control and acting to correct negative deviations
  • Participate fully in structured business improvement programs to identify opportunities and implement strategies to deliver improved performance
  • Mentor and provide training for subordinates and ensure development of succession plans and staff development programmes
  • Oversee mentoring/development of staff to high standards of experience, training and performance
  • Enforcing Engineering statutory regulatory compliances

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years mining experience focused on mobile equipment and fixed plant, with 5 years at similar level or higher
  • Demonstrated experience in process plant operations utilising large-scale processing equipment
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams of people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and a person who leads by example
  • Demonstrated experience in asset management, project management and cost management
  • Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent
  • Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness
  • Prior experience in similar roles in Africa with demonstrated positive outcomes an advantage.
  • Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve a department’s safety awareness.
  • Experience in managing department costs and budgeting
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels
