Job Description

City of Harare is inviting suitable applicants for the vacant position of HEAD PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICES that has arisen in its Health Department.

GRADE: 4
LOCATION: BEATRICE ROAD INFECTIOUS DISEASES HOSPITAL (BRIDH)
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF HEALTH SERVICES

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for Pharmaceutical supply chain management in Council and supervision of staff.

KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Responsible for overall planning and management of pharmaceutical services in the City Health department.
  • Ensures effective running of the medical Stores.
  • Responsible for stock management and, distribution of stock items to Health institutions and other Public Health institutions.
  • Ensures effective ordering of medicines, vaccines, medical sundries and equipment from Natpharm and Private suppliers in liaison with the Director of Health Services.
  • Ensures monitoring and performance management.
  • Responsible for advising the Director of Health Services on policy regarding Pharmaceutical services.
  • Ensures supervision of subordinates.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree
  • Professional registration and current practising certificates a must.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience.

KEY COMPETENCES

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently, both independently and within a team
  • Ability to handle pressure and work with minimum supervision.
