Location: Buhera, Chivi, Mutare, Zaka, Buhera, Chivi, Mutare, Zaka

CARE began working in Zimbabwe in 1992 in response to severe regional drought and has since expanded programming to address longer-term development issues. Currently, an estimated 5.8 million people are facing severe food insecurity in Zimbabwe as a result of the human-made climate crisis.

Through strategic local partnerships, CARE is implementing both short-term and long-term programming to empower Zimbabwe’s vulnerable households to meet their basic needs through sustainable livelihoods. Job Description

The incumbent will be responsible for mobilizing community registration, verification, distribution, set up final distribution points (FDPs) according to CARE standard distribution procedures and provide accurate documentation on all commodity distributions.

Key duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaises with Warehouse staff on distribution planning and commodities dispatching from Warehouse to Final Distribution Points (FDPs)
  • Ensures that all commodities entrusted to CARE arriving at FDPs are properly accounted for.
  • Scrutinizes all waybills for commodities arriving at the FDP.
  • Ensures that correct commodity quantities and quality as manifested on the waybill
  • Records all quantities delivered short (missing), quantities lost in transit and quantities damaged if any.
  • Trains FDP Management Committee in commodity stacking, counting and weighing
  • Informs beneficiaries on Donor, Implementing Partner, Program, Duration, Selection Criteria, and Ration Sizes.
  • Monitors the distribution of commodities for every FDP and produce reports.
  • Based on the distribution plan for each FDP and actual beneficiaries, submit commodity request for approval by the Commodity Manager
  • Reviews all the FDP Documents and compare with the Master Beneficiary list and records all changes and report them regularly.
  • Prepares Distribution Center Visit Reports (DCVR) and food monitors report after every distribution.
  • Ensure that all commodities are accounted for at the FDP and makes sure all distributions are carried out according to CARE and donor standards.
  • Ensures proper accounting of all commodity quantities received and distributed at each FDP.
  • Ensures that all Humanitarian Accountability processes and procedures are followed


  • Prospective candidates should have a minimum of Diploma in Development studies or equivalent
  • 2 years’ previous experience in a related field
  • A self-starter, with dedication and ability to work with less or no supervision. Must
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and work with others as a team.
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle is a must
  • Ability to perform field assignments and willingness to travel for long period of time in difficult terrain, harsh and demanding conditions.
  • Candidates should also be willing to live and work in very difficult and security-risk areas
  • Good command of oral and written English, a must. Computer literacy is an added advantage.
