Financial Accountant

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the post of Financial Accountant, which has arisen in our Finance Department at Mateppe Estate (Marondera), a division of Cairns Foods Limited.

The Job

Reporting to the Finance Executive the successful applicant will, among other key aspects, be responsible for:

• Preparing monthly financial statements by collecting data; analysing & investigating variances; as well as summarizing data, information, and trends.
• Preparing year-end and statutory accounts.
• Implementing adequate high standards of financial controls and ensure compliance within the business.
• Providing financial advice by studying operational issues, applying financial principles & practices, and developing recommendations.
• Managing the general ledger including overseeing the monthly balance sheet, banking and inter-company reconciliations.
• Performing month end closing activities such as account reconciliation, revenue accounting, expense accounting, and multi-currency reporting.
• Liaising with external auditors and assists with management of the audit process right from the beginning till the end.
• Analysing business operations, financial commitments, costs, revenues, and trends to develop projections for future revenue and expenses.

The Person

The ideal applicant should possess the following minimum qualifications and attributes:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting ZCTA, CA.
• At least five years’ related experience, preferably in FMCG & Agricultural environment.
• Excellent computer operating skills in Microsoft Excel, Word & Power Point.
• Experience with Sage 1000 is an added advantage.
