Job Description

University of Zimbabwe – Clinical Trials Research Centre (UZ-CTRC) is seeking for a suitably trained, competent, self- motivated, mature, talented, and qualified Finance Officer responsible for administrative support in the Accounts Department and across the 7 Clinical Research Sites (CRSs) in Harare and Chitungwiza.


UZ-CTRC is a centre of excellence in the prevention and control of HIV and AIDS and have contributed to global understanding of HIV epidemiology and pathogenesis, global and Zimbabwean health policy, and have elevated standards of care.

Position summary

  • Prepare monthly invoices, scan supporting documents, verify accuracy and send the invoices to the networks for approval within the stipulated time frame;
  • Prepare invoices through SAGE ERP 1000 accounting system, ledger reports into excel based invoice to match various funder invoice standards;
  • Respond to invoice queries and prepare monthly and annual projections;
  • Input and data processing through capturing of payments and journals;
  • Prepare General Ledger reconciliations; Input and post payments and receipts to respective projects as approved on requisitions;
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly trackers and reports as assigned by the supervisor;
  • Provide quarterly progress review updates for the Accounts Department;
  • Provide professional guidance to site management and Coordinators;
  • Implement and maintain financial policies;
  • Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits;
  • Assist in the review of relevant Standard Operating Procedures and ensure adherence of same.


  • Minimum 3 A’ Level passes;
  • Degree in Accounting from a recognized university;
  • A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in accounting;
  • Knowledge and experience with Accounting Software Enterprise Resource Plan (ERP);
  • Membership to a professional body is also an added advantage;
  • Clean Class 4 driver’s licence;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Planning and analytical skills;
  • Ability to influence culture in a team;
  • Ability to work in a team and multitask.
