Job Description

A vacancy has arisen within the Agricultural Marketing Authority for the position of Field Officer. The incumbent will be reporting directly to the Field Crops/ Horticulture and Livestock Expert and indirectly to the Director for Agribusiness. The Field Officer is expected to cover parts of Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central Provinces and be stationed at the Chinhoyi Regional Office

We seek to recruit a candidate with the following credentials: –

  • A Diploma in Agriculture and/or Degree in Agriculture/Agronomy/Animal Science
  •  A high degree of technical competence.
  • Working knowledge of the Agricultural sector is a prerequisite.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Result oriented, innovative, analytical and an excellent team player. £

The candidate will assume the following duties and responsibilities including but not limited to: z

  • Identifying and conducting trainings on Agriculture, Value Chain development and non-farm livelihoods & to targeted communities in the wards of operation. z
  • Facilitating sustainable market linkages with private sector actors.
  • Preparing budget for trainings, awareness sessions and various natural resources related matters within the region.
  • Participating in regional crop & livestock assessments exercises, agricultural input and product price, supply and accessibility surveys and report accordingly.
  • Identifying, inducting, deploying and supervising CIDP/CBP Clerks and Depot Clerks on farmer registrations, input disbursement records and returns on contract farming and marketing of strategic crops and livestock.
  • Networking with sister agents, scheduling, sourcing material and exhibiting at approved workshops, conferences, district, provincial and agricultural shows.
  • Enforcing compliance on statutory measures on registrations, marketing procedures, records, returns, pest and disease control and forging market linkages of farmers with buyers, contractors, traders, processors, abattoirs in both crop and livestock sectors.
  • Undertaking advocacy and public relations work in the region and conducting awareness activities at strategic fora.
  • Marketing and representing the Authority by attending meetings, workshops, cooperation, and collaboration with other departments when giving service delivery.
  • Submitting daily, weekly, and monthly work plans and reporting to the concerned supervisors on regular basis and maintaining an up-to-date data base for the project and activities.
  • Undertaking any other duties as assigned by management.
