Job Description

GRADE: 10
LOCATION: HEAD OFFICE
REPORTS TO: ACCOUNTANT REVENUE

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for appointment to the position of DEBT COLLECTION OFFICER in the Revenue Collection Section of the Finance Department

Job Objectives: Responsible for the management of the Debt collection function

Key Result Areas

  • Formulates and implements debt collection strategies
  • Produces debtors age analysis reports for Council
  • Authorizes and signs summons and warrants of execution against property
  • Monitors the performance of companies under judicial management to prevent financial toss to Council
  • Liaison with Council solicitors, messenger of court regards all matters relating to deceased estates, insolvent states and other debtors
  • Checks accuracy of all statements handled by the office
  • Ensure timeous processing of all communications and responses relating to debt collection office
  • Ensure adherence to Council credit policy and procedures
  • Production of debtors and progress reports relating to debt collection matters
  • Supervision and development of debt collection staff

Qualifications and Experience

  • HND in Accountancy, Law, Administration
  • Diploma in Credit Management or Professional Qualification in Credit Management
  • Degree in Accounting/Finance, Law, Administration is an added advantage
  • Possession of a driver’s license is an added advantage
  • Membership to relevant Institute is an added advantage
