Job Description

Location: Matabeleland North [Based in one of the four Districts-Tsholotsho (1), Lupane (1), Bubi (1) and Nkayi (1)]

Pangaea Zimbabwe AIDS Trust (PZAT) is an independent Zimbabwean entity registered as a local Trust in August of 2012 (MA/909/2012). PZAT strives to transform the lives of people living with and affected by HIV by working to ensure their access to comprehensive HIV and sexual health services delivered in safe and supportive environments. PZAT has led and engaged in several programmatic and research activities focused on key affected populations in partnership with the MOHCC and academic, local and multi-national partners. PZAT as a partner in the ZimPAAC consortium is working with the MOHCC to improve access to HIV prevention, care and treatment services for key and priority population groups in four Districts in Matabeleland North.

Position summary

The Data Focal Person (DFP) works under the direct supervision of the Field Officer (FO) and will support the FO, Young Sisters and PrEP Champions in M&E related activities for the PZAT DREAMS program. S/he collaborates closely with other colleagues at district level to provide data management support.

Duration

  • October 2021 to September 2022 (contract based and renewable annually)

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Verify and capture data from paper-based forms into an electronic database;
  • Work closely with Strategic Information Officer in reviewing and correcting data entered in DHIS2 database;
  • Assist SIO in M&E processes, data collection, surveys, and data quality requirements at district level;
  • Participate in referral working group meetings and other district M&E meetings;
  • Support in the review and checking of data generated in line with the DREAMS M&E reporting requirements;
  • Prepare, sort, and check all clients’ records for verification and making sure that accurate data is being entered on the registers and in DHIS2 database;
  • Establish data entry priorities by maintaining and understanding of what data needs to be entered first;
  • Secure entered information by performing routine data backups as required;
  • Check completed work for accuracy, consistency, and completeness, liaise with supervisor for incomplete records and make any required changes as required;
  • Ensure a proper filing system for both hard and soft copies;
  • Check source documents against entered data to ensure data integrity at every stage;
  • Produce automated data entry and integration reports when requested;
  • Use data for District planning, programming, and assessment of performance;
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the Strategic Information Officer and Field Officer

Knowledge, skills & attributes

  • Sound knowledge and experience regarding data management and well-developed computer skills;
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding HIV;
  • Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain compatibility among project staff, consultants, and recipients of assistance;
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high volumes of work with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated attention to detail; ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently as well as cooperatively with team members.

Qualifications and experience

  • A quantitative Diploma/Degree in Mathematics, Operations Research and Statistics, Information Systems, Public Health, or Social Sciences is desirable;
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar position;
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and familiarity with PEPFAR indicators and reporting requirements will be an added advantage;
  • Proficiency in desktop software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) a requisite.
