Applications are invited from suitable qualified persons to fill the vacancy of Credit Controller that has arisen in the Finance Department.
Grade: 12
Reports to: Accountant
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business studies or Banking
- 3 years relevant experience
- Membership of a relevant professional body will be an added advantage
OTHER KEY COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
- Proficiency in using computer applications such as Microsoft, Excel and ERPs
- Good communication skills
- Clean class 4 driver’s licence
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing of Credit Control & Debt Collection duties in accordance with laid down Credit Control & Debt Collection legislation, policies and procedures,
- Communicating with respective internal and external role players to ensure payment of council dues
- Resolving client billing and payment queries
- Coordinate and control Management Information Systems of the Section
- Ensure effective and efficient implementation of the Credit Control & Debt Collection policy of Council
- Advise and reporting to Management with regards to special debt collection initiatives
- Responsible for the Performance Management of debt collection ratios and targets
- Control write-off and debt collection processes in accordance with laid down procedures and policy
- Co-ordinates and controls tasks/activities associated with controlling personnel performance, productivity and discipline
- Identify Indigent debtors and recommend to management
- Monitoring debtor balances to ensure a reduction in debtors’ period
- Coordinate and control procedural administrative requirements, record keeping and reporting deadlines associated with the functionality
- Keeping abreast of developments, emerging trends and latest technologies in the profession
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure as much debt is cleared as possible.
- Analyze debtors and recommend appropriate collection initiatives
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, annual and demand reports
