Job Description

The Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) is inviting qualified, honest, self-motivated and experienced applicants for the post of CHIEF REGULATORY OFFICER, GRADE D2

Reporting to: The Head, Licensing and Enforcement (LED)

The incumbent will be responsible for the following among other duties:

  • Manage and lead team members in the execution of all aspects of the MCAZ Strategic plan of the Licensing Unit;
  • Verify completeness of applications for premises and person licenses accepted by Regulatory Officers;
  • Lead in processing and issuing of person and premises permits, conducting forensic lectures and processing Section 75 applications;
  • Approve Section 75 authorization letters for individuals and institutions;
  • Approve applications for donations;
  • Approve narcotic, psychotropic and precursor substances applications;
  • Conduct forensic lectures for Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists;
  • Accept and review advertisements of medicines submitted for approval;
  • Carry out cGMP inspections;
  • Lead Licensing team in ensuring adherence to ISO 17020 AND 9001 requirements; n
  • Participate in the implementation of performance management system. 3

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy Honors Degree or equivalent.
  • Relevant Post Graduate Degree is an added advantage.
  • At least five (5) years working experience in the Licensing and Enforcement Division or relevant regulatory experience.
  • Sound knowledge of GMP principles and competence in inspections.
  • Ability to motivate inculcate team spirit.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, public communication skills and proficiency in English.
