Job Description

Reporting to: The Compliance Manager

The Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Officer will be responsible For assisting management in ensuring that the Bank operates in accordance to and with all legal and regulatory requirements and international standards relating to anti-money laundering, countering terrorist Financing, countering proliferation Financing, anti-bribery controls and sanctions management so as to protect and enhance the reputation of the Bank.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/ Countering Terrorist Financing (CFT)/ Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (CPF) Risk Assessment.
  • Financial Crime Compliance Risk Management.
  • Transaction monitoring, testing, and control.
  • Anti-Money Laundering/ Countering Terrorism Financing/ Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (CPF) reporting.
  • Developing Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/ Countering Terrorist Financing/ Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction Training Program and conducting training.
  • Developing and reviewing policies and procedure manuals relating to Anti-Money Laundering/Countering Terrorism Financing/ Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
  • Providing advice and awareness in relation to regulatory and Anti-Money Laundering/ Countering Terrorism Financing/ Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction issues affecting the Bank.
  • Know Your Customer (KYC)/Customer Due Diligence.

Job and Skill Competencies

  • Processes and procedures writing experience.
  • Strong analytical ability and understanding of laws and regulations.
  • Proactive and reactive thinking.
  • Communication and presentation skills both oral and written.
  • Attention to detail and time management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor of Laws, Banking & Finance, Risk, Business Studies /Accounting.
  • Relevant professional certification such as Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist or Certified Compliance Professional or Certified Global Sanctions Specialist would be preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the financial services sector preferably in relation to Anti Money Laundering Surveillance, Know Your Customer Specialist, Sanctions, and/or Financial Crimes Compliance.
  • knowledge of commercial Banking business systems, rules and regulations is a distinct added advantage.
  • A clean class 4 Drivers License.
