Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following post of ACCOUNTANT – EXPENDITURE SECTION: HEAD OFFICE x 1 that has arisen within the Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund (ZIMDEF).

The incumbent will be responsible for the verification and updating of all payments and ensuring that they are effected timeously and accurately so as to maintain an accurate financial position of the Fund at any given period.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and reviewing of financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Preparing financial statements and management reports
  • Checking and authorising expenditure payments/vouchers on a daily basis
  • Ensuring that all captured transactions are correctly classified
  • Managing the Fund’s expenditure in line with the approved budget
  • Overseeing the capturing of relevant journals into system
  • Checking of creditors reconciliation schedules and identifying all open balances
  • Ensuring that the section adheres to all relevant statutory and policy requirements
  • Liaising with relevant banks on expenditure related issues
  • Financial modelling and costing of activities to support executive leadership decisions
  • Attending and responding to all audit queries
  • Supervising and providing guidance to staff in the expenditure section including performance management

Qualifications, Competencies and Work Competencies

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • A relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage
  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience
  • Polished professional with outgoing attitude and an excellent team player
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, coordinating and personal interface skills.
  • Clean class four (4) driver’s licence
