Family Aid Caring Trust (FACT) is a Christian national development NGO based in Zimbabwe. It implements sustainable development initiatives to improve people’s livelihood, Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH), HIV Prevention, HIV and AIDS care and support as well as health activities. FACT seeks the services of project staff for an anticipated DREAMS project. The project will implement

  • HIV prevention, condom education, gender norms change, social assets building, and sexual violence prevention;
  • Combination of socioeconomic approaches for AGYW including financial literacy, work readiness and employability trainings, vocational training for market-driven technical skills, internships; and
  • Addressing harmful gender and community norms.

Purpose of the job

FACT Zimbabwe seeks an experienced candidate to be engaged as The Economic Strengthening Project Officer (PO) for the anticipated DREAMS Project who will be responsible for the implementation of and supervision of the delivery of the primary package to Adolescent Girls and Young women in their different age bands. S/he will be responsible for specifically providing leadership in quality delivery of HIV prevention programming and service delivery to address adolescent needs. The POs will work with district staff on technical aspects of program implementation to ensure AGYW are enrolled, receive the primary package and are referred for the secondary services as needed.

Specific responsibilities

The District Economic Strengthening Officer is responsible for:

  • Delivering the DREAMS Program Economic strengthening package at community level with overall planning and implementation for the out of school combined socio-economic program at district level;
  • Working with community based facilitators the Officer will be supporting AGYW to undertake economic strengthening activities, ensuring high quality facilitation of training and systematic post-training supportive supervision and mentoring to AGYW and facilitators;
  • S/He will support to targeted vulnerable Adolescent Girls and Young Women to implement and manage micro- enterprises, employment opportunities, financial education, market opportunity identification / assessment, and entrepreneurship and business development services;
  • Identify and nurture strategic partnerships to support program to meet its economic strengthening goals including other implementing partners, private sector and government stakeholders;
  • S/he will support DREAMS Clubs to liaise with relevant government ministries and programs, other technical experts and agencies, and the private sector to support AGYW graduation and transition;
  • The ES officer will work with the HIV prevention Officer to mobilize, assess and recruit eligible girls into the DREAMS Program;
  • S/he will monitor and support DREAMS Clubs and AGYW to identify and successfully follow a pathway of their choice;
  • They will ensure timely documentation and reporting of program activities using the FACT Zimbabwe weekly, monthly, biannual, and annual reporting formats;
  • Document project results and impacts in various forms, including media stories, lessons learned, case studies, client satisfaction, etc;
  • Ensure high quality facilitation of training and systematic post-training supportive supervision and mentoring to AGYW and partner staff;
  • Ensure program quality through use of program standard operating procedures and guides in clubs;
  • Directly supports program monitoring through tracking weekly targets and mobilizing project data;
  • Drafts project reports as required;
  • Do any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field;
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in household economic strengthening programming;
  • Experience in working with vulnerable young people in economic strengthening initiatives, in areas such as small-scale crop and livestock production, value-chain development, business development, entrepreneurship, financial services;
  • Demonstrated experience in community mobilization, organization, management and mediation among local actors and partner capacity building;
  • Demonstrated experience in training design, delivery and mentoring in subject matter relevant to this position;
  • Ability to work independently, think innovatively and strategically, and work, work under pressure and deadlines;
  • Strong technical and programmatic skills and experience across a range of economic empowerment for youth;
  • In-depth understanding of donor expectations for program results, outcomes, impact, and reporting.
